The summer crowds have dispersed, and we finally have the valley to ourselves once more, apart from the few visitors who come here to enjoy our spectacular fall colors.

Lunch during the last few days at The Pine Creek Cookhouse (until they re-open next season) rewarded us with some gorgeous late summer scenery, with lingering wildflowers competing with the already turning aspen leaves...

We also had some exciting natural events such as the ‘once every 33 years’ lunar eclipse that coincided with the moon being at its closest point to Earth this year – and with our clear night skies, we were really lucky to see the entire event, beautifully captured here by local photographer, Jeremy Swanson up on Independence Pass.
The excitement didn’t end there, with the Aspen Police doing their best to steer a couple of moose aways from the runway at Aspen Airport!
And then there was Martha Cochran, executive director of the AVLT, along with Tom Waldeck, owner of Emma Farms, and Dale Will for Pitkin County Open Space, celebrating a deal that will protect the remaining large Emma ranch in mid-valley. Despite the number of visitors to the Roaring Fork Valley slowing down to a trickle, this fall season has seen the biggest uptick in property sales, with local real estate transactions showing no sign of slowing down in Aspen or mid-valley either – and for this coming ski season, we’re predicting that the Snowmass property market activity will be off the charts.
